That's one of the two leading roles isn't it? Well done Niamh! And I completely agree jmor, I never would have guessed this! But this is a huge achievement! I'm also not completely certain but I read somewhere just now that the cast change is in june, although don't trust me on that one If it is though, that's really soon! Now I guess I have to go see Mamma Mia I'd rather this than phantom 2 though

Our Niamh's a super star! Never seen the film and would never have been interested in seeing the musical but this changes everything! I really would like to see this. Once we learn more I'll try and sort it out. Woo hoo! Well done Niamh... if you read this. Even if you don't read this Niamh, well done!

I don't think she'll dye her hair (I hope not! Her hair is lovely!) cos the posters I've seen of Mamma Mia the musical (ack, they're everywhere on the london tubes) has dark brown hair just like Niamh. It would be amazing to go see her!!! It's the London theatre, right? *bubbles over with enthusiasm*
Brilliant news, well done Niamh! Not sure I would have associated her with Abba, but great that she has a leading West End role. So that's another 'jukebox' musical I can't miss, despite my scepticism.
There's a small mention of Niamh in an article about Samantha from I'd Do Anything. Didn't think it was big enough to put in its own thread, but here's the part about Niamh:
Sam, as she prefers to be called, remains great friends with the I’d Do Anything girls, especially local duo Niamh Perry and Rachel Tucker.
“I’ve never performed in Belfast before, but I was over there for Niamh’s 18th birthday.
“Niamh is actually moving in with me in July and I’m going to Rachel Tucker’s wedding in Belfast this summer.
“We became really good friends – they are in my top 10 friends.”
Sam lives in Chiswick in west London, which will be an ideal base for Niamh, who will be playing the lead role of Sophie in Mamma Mia! The Musical at the Prince Of Wales Theatre from mid-June.
“We are very excited, because there is going to be lots of shopping,” adds an excited Sam, who celebrated her 18th birthday with the cast of Cabaret on tour in Nottingham.

She's a West End leading lady! And I noticed her site too Katzie Although at least her page on the agent's site says green eyes now, I'm pretty sure it was blue before.

So that's it then. I can't believe it. She's done her first night!!! I'm feeling all fuzzy inside! Ooohh, i just wish she could tell us how it went and how she's feeling!

And here's the bit about Niamh: 'When it comes to the craze to appoint leading musical stars through TV talent contests Katy is divided on whether or not it’s a good thing. “I’m sort of on the fence with it,” she says. “I’m working with Niamh Perry who plays Sophie and she was in the search for Oliver and Nancy (I’d Do Anything) and I think she’s great – very talented. There are a lot of talented people on these shows and if it brings more talent to the stage then it’s great. The only thing I would say against it is it sometimes makes people think the whole process (of being appointed) is easy when it’s not. That’s my only beef about it. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication.” '
