Hellloooo Sorry I've been crap, not coming on again! Good to see we're passed 100 pages though - time for a new thread
Kat, I want to do medicine too The competition is scary though! I'm not interested in going to oxbridge though, I don't think, is not really my thing Edinburgh will be my first choice.
Hope everyone is okay

Who are you?
Hey Jo! Are you ok? 2 months ago i'd have said 'we'll never reach Chat Thread, part 5'.
Rick, yes she could have called it Rain On Your Parade and i'm sure the song itself would have been a great opening track and it would have done great. But maybe she'll release something even better... I still think it should have been on the second album and re-releases so soon after it first came out is a bit of a con. You saying it isn't good for artists to leave fans waiting for 2 hours at a gig, personally i think re-releasing an album 6 months later with 7 more songs is a bit cheeky but there we go.
At the start of the season you thought you were going to win the league Ricky so don't start thinking you're "defo" going to finish in the play offs. It won't be easy. Reminds me, today we were singing for the first time, "we're gonna win the league *clap clap*, we're gonna win the league *clap clap*..."

Part 5! Woo!
I'm looking into Edinburgh too, although it's a bit far (what, eight hours' drive? Or a flight ) from home...but then again one of my friends wants to go to St. Andrews so he'll be in scotland too, BUT he has family there, so bully for him, lol.
Rain on my parade sounds vaguely familiar....somehow.... *thinks hard*

Bloody hell Ricky, how very pernickety of you. 5, 7, 42... whatever. She added songs to an already released album. That was my point. And anyway, it was 7 songs.
I would love to finish 2nd Ricky. Are you offering me 2nd now? I'll take it mate. At least it'd mean we're promoted! But i'd be surprised. We're MUCH better than anyone else in this league.

Edinburgh's one of the places I'm thinking of as well. Not that I've actually begun properly researching at all I need to do that soon... Kat - my teacher was telling us about a student who only found out a few months before starting a course at St. Andrews that it was in Scotland, they thought it was just a little to the north of London
Hellooo I'm not bad thanks Ben, coming down with a cold though and i'm in the middle of my prelims! How are you?
That means there's been like over 500 pages of chatting....crazy
Hiya Kat and Zippy Woah, that is pretty far away Kat! I like living in Edinburgh, and it's supposed to be one of the good unis for medicine so I guess it'd just suit me to stay here And it's free for Scottish people if we go to a scottish uni! What year are you two in? When will you be going to uni?
Hi Ricky! It was pretty good timing i reckon, coming on just after 100 pages I WILL come on more often now though! (I know I say that all the time.... )
You all okay?

Are scottish unis free for english people too? I think someone's answered that question before but I can't remember her answer o_O I'm in Yr 12, so I'll start uni in September 2010...it sounds so close it's scary :O
My geography's really bad too I thought Cambridge uni was in cambridgeshire...apparently not!

I think it's only scottish people who get to go to scottish unis for free, but I'm not certain I'm also in year 12, same as kat, so unless I don't get any offers or completely fail my subjects, I'll be going to uni 2010 as well
If anyone has any university advice for studying english I'd be grateful! I have no idea which universities are ranked highly because of their medicine and which actually have good humanities departments (beyond Oxbridge of course)

I'm good Jo thanks. I feel I might be coming down with a cold too. Throat doesn't feel too good. Early sign of a cold for me. Maybe it'll come to nothing. It would be nice if you could join us more often.
Sorry girls, I have no idea about universities and stuff.

I have no idea either, mainly because I've denied I'll ever need to know about them until now. I'll just have to think balance a course I like with a place I like, I'm not sure I could cope with being in the middle of nowhere coming straight from London for example. My brother's criteria included a comparison of beer prices
Hope you're not getting a cold! I just recovered from one and it was terrible because my eyes would water constantly so people kept thinking I was crying
Think scottish unis are just free for scottish people Kat
I'll be going to uni then tooo Will you 2 be 18 by then? Apparently fresher's week is rubbish for the people who're under 18 because you can't get in places/drink. I'm not planning on taking a gap year, no Zippy but it would be fun!
Aaaww hope you're not getting a cold Ben I'll try to come on more often

Being english is rubbish. There's not much anyone will give us for free I somehow thought you'd already taken your A levels Jo, that was why I asked if you were on a gap year. Is the scottish system different from english?

I think Scots have a different version of GCSEs and Year systems (in England it's Year 7, 8, 9 etc)? Not sure.
I'll be eighteen and a half or so, by the time uni rolls around. Luckily for me I don't have to worry about beer prices, seeing as I don't go out much although I think tuition fees are quite a major problem for me tho. I think my research came up to about sixty grand for a whole medicine course (six years) including living fees and such. Hopefully I can get some kind of grant, if not, I'll have to work at uni as well as study there!
And after medicine you graduate with two bachelors degrees...after six years! I think for some other courses you could have gotten a phD by the end of six years :/ although finishing a med course sounds much more impressive ;)

I haven't even thought about money yet At least that's your life settled for 6 years though, and there's a whole career at the end. Me, I'll be wondering what on earth I'm going to do with my life in about 4 years time Wait, that can't be right... it sounds so soon!

Not completely sure but I think university is free in Dublin - although it costs a fortune to live there!
I have to have picked what A-Levels to do by next week but I still have no idea which ones to do Choosing universities sounds a lot more confusing though
Elloooo We get loads of things for free - being scottish is great!
Lol, no i've not done my A levels yet. Our years are different to yours - high school goes from S1 - 6 and our cut-off is february so our years are younger. So even though i'm in the same year as you, there's people in my class who're still 15 And then most of us leave school at 17. I'm doing highers this year, which is kinda like AS i think but a bit different.
Sixty grand is so much money that's awful!
Have you guys chosen your subjects yet for next year? We've already had an information evening but we don't need to decide just yet.
Hiya Ricky I want to go to Edinburgh, I love living here!
Notes came back this afternoon, it's great Can't believe I still only have 1 though

Is university worth it when you have to pay so much money? Very expensive. Suppose it might be if you're sure you want to follow it up when you leave.
It seems we're all around a cold at the moment. It gets to my throat, eyes and head mostly. I've not had a bad cold for a while so i hope i don't get one... I had a terrible one this time 4 years ago. Was in bed and was really ill for a week. I don't like people saying they've got "flu" when they've just got a bad cold. It isn't even bad sometimes. I'm not saying i had flu but i've not been so ill in my life. I still get scared when i feel a cold coming. I don't want to miss any Leicester games for a start!!! We are much better Ricky. Look at the goal difference too. At this rate, we'll reach 70 points before anyone else has reached 60. Sure, things might change in the coming weeks, but if we continue playing like we are, and that's the important thing, continue playing how we are, we'll finish with 100+ points.

Liar!
I honestly would support you in the play offs, as long as we don't fall in them ourselves of course. It'd be great fun to fight it out in the Championship next year.
You need to get tickets to a game Ricky. Go before the end of the season.

I still don't understand the scottish system then Jo, but thanks for explaining! I'm doing the International Baccalaureate instead of A Levels which is wierd but basically it's a 2 year course so I'll be studying the same stuff next year as this We've had a talk on universities though, which was enough to scare me to pieces What subjects are you considering for A levels Amy?
